Closure of Monks Park public car park

The Monks Park public car park at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, is due to close from 8am on Monday 8 January 2024. This is due to construction work starting for a new Elective Centre, which will enable us to carry out an additional 6,500 operations per year.

We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause patients and visitors and would like to advise of alternative car parks and travel options to our Southmead site.

The Brunel multi-storey, Gloucester House, Emergency Department and Women & Children's car parks are designated public/patient parking areas. They are pay on foot or pay by phone using the Trust parking app. You can download Trust Parking app via iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com or Google Play at https://play.google.com

Several bus routes serve our sites including First Bus and Stagecoach bus routes 76, 13, 505, 24, Y6, 17, 10 and 11. To find out which bus route is best for you when visiting our Southmead site please check the Travel West website. Southmead is also within a half an hour walk of Filton Abbey Wood train station if patients or visitors would prefer to take the train. The new state-of-the-art Elective Centre will benefit patients across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG). It is planned to open in Spring 2025 and will provide additional capacity for North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) to support each Trust’s elective (planned care) recovery plans. This exciting new development will allow the two Trusts to treat an additional 6,500 patients per year.
