Miss Ann Lyons was appointed as a consultant colorectal surgeon at North Bristol Trust in 2005. Prior to joining North Bristol Ann was a fellow at international centres of St Marks Hospital, London and Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto,Canada expanding her management of complex pelvic conditions. Graduated with Hons, Surg and Antomy Medal Ann completed by Higher Surgical Training in the South West Deanery, centred on Bristol. During her Higher Surgical Training, she had valuable out of training experience, educated with Professor Hohenberger in colon and rectum cancer surgery and Prof Matzel in pelvic floor disorders, in the University of Erlangen. She has actively engaged programmes for cancer patient communication,  including in the NCAT cancer care programme 2013.

Within this experience Ann has developed a holistic approach to cancer care, and a specialty interest in delivering safe careful pelvic surgery for regional patients; and surgery for early and advanced cancer. I have extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery.

Ann has clinical, educational and research experience. Awarded MD for her bench to bed side T cell immune response to major stresses, Harvard Medical School and since appointment has been PI for several clinical research trials at North Bristol. Ann has presented both nationally and internationally.  Ann is the lead surgeon for Colon and Rectum Cancer at North Bristol. She  has a position on the SWAG CAG Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

He is the Clinical Director for the Severn Major Trauma Network and is an Hon. Professor of Trauma & Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine at Bristol University, Visiting Professor at the University of Stavanger and an Hon. Clinical Professor at Queen Mary University, London.

He is also a Consultant, Research Lead and Trustee at London's Air Ambulance.

Currently he is chairman of the of the Faculty of Pre-hospital Care, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Vice Chair (and Immediate Past Chairman) of the Intercollegiate Board for training in Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine.

Dr Melanie Lockett trained in London and moved to Bristol in 2005 when she was appointed as consultant.

Dr Lockett has been a bowel cancer screening colonoscopist for the Bristol and Weston bowel cancer screening service since 2008 with a colonoscopy completion rate of over 98%.

Dr Lockett is an educational and clinical supervisor and is also a British Society of Gastroenterology mentor. 

Dr Lockett was elected chair of the North Bristol NHS Trust Joint Local Negotiating Committee in Oct 2022 having been a member of this committee since 2019.

Dr Simon Lewis undertook his anaesthetic training in the Bristol region and then spent a fellowship year in Perth, Western Australia.

During this time he developed an interest in preoperative assessment and ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia. 

Dr Simon Lewis also developed an interest in echocardiography and completed the Diploma in Perioperative Echocardiography in 2009. 

He was appointed as a Consultant Anaesthetist to North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) in 2007.

Dr Simon Lewis is also currently Southmead Hospital Bristol Anaesthetic Lead for Clinical Governance and Preoperative Assessment and he regularly performs cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPEX) for high risk patients.

Dr Christina Laxton trained as an anaesthetist in the South West region before being appointed as a consultant at North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) in 2002.

She is the TPD for Assessment for trainees in the Severn PGME School of Anaesthesia, the LTFT (Less than Full Time) Training Advisor for the School and a member of the Specialist Training Committee. Professor Kathreena Kurian BSc, MBBS, MD, FRCPath (Neuro) is consultant neuropathologist and Professor of Neuropathology.

She is Head of the University of Bristol Brain Tumour Research Group.

She undertook medical training in Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, London and neuropathology and research training in Edinburgh and Cambridge.

She specialises in both adult and paediatric brain tumours, having published widely.

She has authored a textbook - An Atlas of Gross Neuropathology; Cambridge University Press.

She is responsible for the set-up of the NIHR IVMT cohort study to Identify and Validate Molecular Targets in CNS tumours.

She is on the Board of the At Bristol Science Centre.
