Software training

Here you will find tutorials to help you edit a variety of AAC software and vocabularies.

It is important to regularly keep a user’s vocabulary up to date to ensure it remains relevant, engaging and motivating. Personalising the vocabulary helps support communication and inclusion into everyday life.

You can do this by adding:

  • Names of new friends, care staff, family members or pets
  • Favourite toys, personal items or activity groups
  • Phrases or slang commonly used in their peer group – to support social interaction
  • Age-appropriate language – as an AAC user grows older you may want to add words and phrases about relationships, health topics, etc.

To support you during your assessment period with AAC WEST we can offer personalised one-to-one training and support. These can be delivered via Microsoft Teams or face-to-face. To find out more, please contact us on aacwestadmin@nbt.nhs.uk or  0117 414 5850. You can also reach out to the AAC suppliers listed below to explore the training options they offer.
