Here you will find tutorials to help you edit a variety of AAC software and vocabularies.
It is important to regularly keep a user’s vocabulary up to date to ensure it remains relevant, engaging and motivating. Personalising the vocabulary helps support communication and inclusion into everyday life.
You can do this by adding:
- Names of new friends, care staff, family members or pets
- Favourite toys, personal items or activity groups
- Phrases or slang commonly used in their peer group – to support social interaction
- Age-appropriate language – as an AAC user grows older you may want to add words and phrases about relationships, health topics, etc.
