We provide a range of Intermediate (Level 2) and Advanced (Level 3) apprenticeships. These qualifications are open to new and existing staff in Band 2 and 3 roles. It is an expectation that new staff, if required, will undertake the appropriate qualification.
Intermediate Apprenticeships are available in HealthCare support services and Clinical Healthcare Support. Some examples of apprenticeship roles include:
- Working as a Maternity Care Assistant assisting Midwives.
- Working as a Housekeeper delivering food and drink to patients and maintaining stock cupboards
- Working alongside Physiotherapists as a Physiotherapist Assistant.
Advanced Apprenticeships are available in Clinical Healthcare Support under one of these pathways according to your job role: Clinical, Perioperative, Allied Health, Maternity and Pathology
Apprenticeships vary in duration from 12 -18 months according to level taken and any previous relevant qualifications. Full information, advice and guidance will be given on starting as an employee in the Trust to enable a successful outcome and progression towards future career goals.
Learners will be allocated an assessor who will work with them once a month in the classroom and in their clinical area. Study time includes 2 induction days plus a 6 hour study day per month to work with Assessor. Additional clinical skills study days are required for the Advanced Apprenticeship. Qualifications are made up of Mandatory Units which build on the core standards of the Care Certificate (e.g. Communication, Health and Safety, Equality and Safeguarding) and optional units which are more practically orientated to your individual job role.
