Vu Cafe & Dining
The staff restaurant on level 5 of the Brunel building provides a range of freshly prepared hot meals, including breakfast, sandwiches; salads and cakes for eat in or takeaway. There is also a fantastic roof top terrace for members of staff to experience the surrounding landscape. V
The Café area drinks are freshly made by one of our trained baristas. The restaurant area has bean to cup hot drinks.
All of our hot drinks are Fairtrade or Rainforest Alliance and the restaurant provides a relaxed environment for all members of staff to enjoy.
Learning & Research Cafe
Located on the first floor of the Learning & Research Centre, the Cafe serves breakfast baps, a wide range of sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes with various fillings, and soups along with a range of teas and coffees to suit every taste.
Willow Coffee Shop
The Willow Coffee Shop, near Maternity Services Reception, is open to both staff and visitors serving breakfast baps, hot and cold snacks, as well as tea and coffee.
Shop, Level 1, Brunel building
Open to staff and visitors the shop offers sandwiches, snacks, drinks, sweets, stationery and essentials.
Costa Coffee Shops
Situtaed in the main atrium of the Brunel building there are two Costa Coffee Shops, open to both staff and visitors.
The League of Friends Coffee Shop
Level 1, near Gate 36, Brunel building.

Saplings Day Nursery
Saplings Day Nursery at Southmead Hospital is located within Monks Park House and is registered with OFSTED to accommodate children aged six weeks to starting school.
The nursery is open from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, 52 weeks of the year excluding bank holidays.

Childcare Salary Sacrifice Scheme
This is an Inland Revenue scheme where part of the employee’s salary is ‘sacrificed’ by the value of subsidised childcare provided by an employer, typically in a workplace nursery. The employee then does not have to pay income tax, national insurance or occupational pension on the amount that would otherwise be spent on his or her child’s nursery place. This means that if you elect to accept a place at the nursery in exchange for an equivalent reduction in your salary this will be tax-free, thus increasing your take home pay. The scheme is advantageous for both tax paying parents and the Trust and participation in this scheme is always optional for each employee.

Once you've joined us, we can provide you with a bespoke travel plan to identify all the ways you can travel to our sites. All you'd need to do is send your postcode and shift times to our Travel Smart team.

There is shower, changing and personal locker facilities available on site and with route planning support, why not walk or run?
Secure cycle stores for parking your bicycle are available. We also offer free bicycle loans (electric, folding or hybrid) and a tax-benefit bicycle purchase scheme (Cyclescheme). With free bike safety checks, maintenance lessons, giveaways and route planning support, cycling to work has never been easier!
Catch a bus
With many different services, conveniently located bus stops and discounted tickets, why not hop on the bus?
For those who ride a motorbike, we offer free, secure, undercover parking on-site (subject to applying for a free permit) and there are discounts at various stores and discounted CBT too!

Our onsite Green Gym provides an outdoor space for colleagues to exercise, made up of five pieces of gym equipment, suitable for all staff regardless of experience or fitness level. Located behind the Learning & Research building, a map of the site is available.

Staff Wellbeing Psychology Team
Staff Psychology Team: Our Staff Psychology Team offer a range of specialist psychological support for both teams and individual wellbeing, including:
- 1:1 support for work-related issues.
- ACT for wellbeing course.
- Bespoke consultation and workshops for teams.
- Support for managers.
- Coordinate trauma support following work-based incidents.
Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
We’ve partnered with Health Assured to provide you with 24/7 free and confidential support with any of life’s challenges, from free counselling to legal information, bereavement support and online CBT (including support for your dependents and legal partner).
Schwartz Rounds are facilitated group sessions, where all staff from across the trust are invited to come together to discuss the emotional and social impact of working in a healthcare setting. Staff who regularly attend Schwartz Rounds feel less stressed and isolated at work.
My Healthy Advantage
Our EAP partners have launched a brand new app, giving you free resources and information on a range of health and lifestyle subjects, helping you to be the healthiest version of yourself! With mini health checks, weekly mood tracker and four weekly programmes, as well as webinars, articles and access to Bright TV.
NHS staff are now able to sign up to the NHS Digital Weight Management Programme. This is a service for people who would like to lose weight and improve their health and wellbeing. Staff who have a BMI of 30 or greater (or 27.5 or greater for staff from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic groups), can access a free, online 12-week weight management programme which is personally tailored to support their journey to a healthier lifestyle.
At NBT we have a range of support available for our staff carers, for example, our EAP can support with legal and emotional issues relating to caring, we also have access to the Carers UK Digital Resource for Carers, providing you with useful materials and support that you may find helpful when balancing caring responsibilities at work, this can be accessed through the Carers UK Digital Resource website, you will need to create a new account, using the unique access code: DNHS9166.
We’ve also introduced our Staff Carers Passport at NBT.
The trust is offering free webinars through HSBC Always on a wide range of topics including budgeting, first time buying, managing debt, credit scoring, fraud, savings and more. There is no obligation or requirement to be a customer of HSBC to take advantage of this service, it is available to everyone regardless of where you bank and HSBC products are not promoted.
Our NHS People
In addition to the internal staff wellbeing programme available to all NBT colleagues, national support is also available to all of our workforce, including free access to apps, staff common rooms and dedicated support lines for staff.
