Healthcare Support Workers - Bank (upcoming advert dates listed below)

Our bank Healthcare Support Workers play a key role in supporting patients across our clinical teams.

Also known as Healthcare Assistants, responsibilities of this role include:

  • Delivering clinical and therapeutic care to patients as required within the scope of the Senior Healthcare Support Worker remit.
  • Supporting Registered Nursing staff in the provision of basic nursing care to patients by assisting patients to maximise their independence with
    • Personal hygiene
    • Diets and fluids
    • Dressing 
    • Toileting, including emptying and changing urine drainage bags according to Trust procedures 
    • Mobilising patients and supporting to regain independence

Our Healthcare Support Workers also help to promote and maintain a clean and comfortable environment on the ward/department to meet the needs of our patients, their relatives and carers. 

In order to be successful as a Healthcare Support Worker for NBTeXtra, you will need to have previous experience of working as a Healthcare Support Worker or in a similar care role. If you are a Student Nurse, please state clearly in your supporting information the year of study you are currently in and the university you are studying with.

Facilities Bank - Domestic Operative (Cleaner) & Portering Operative (Porter) (upcoming advert dates listed below)

As a Domestic Operative (Cleaner) or Porter, you would be joining 2,900 other members of staff who between them cover a total of 8,700 hours a month. The work our facilities staff do is vital to the success of the hospital and they work hard to keep our patients safe and comfortable.

Domestic Operative

Our Domestic Operatives provide a high quality, responsive, efficient and effective patient support service to wards and departments in our Trust by providing general ward and department cleaning (including infection cleans). The role also includes the movement of consumable products, waste, furniture and medical equipment.

Portering Operative

As a Portering Operative, you would play a key role in transporting patients in a safe manner via wheelchair, bed and trolley or escorting patients (who are deemed to not require a medical escort) to and from wards and departments. Our Porters are also responsible for transportation of furniture, medical equipment gasses, beds and mattresses. They are responsible for the collection and distribution of waste, monitoring the effectiveness of the local segregation of waste and escalating any concerns to the Waste Supervisor.

Facilities Bank - Catering (upcoming advert dates listed below)

We have a range of opportunities at NBTeXtra to join us in a catering role. As a Ward Operative, you will help us provide excellent patient care by delivering food directly to our patients on our wards. We also have opportunities available for Chefs and Catering Assistants to work in our modern staff restaurant. 

As a bank Catering Operative,duties may include:

  • Preparing vegetables, fruit, salads, sandwiches, toast, beverages and other food items.
  • Working as a Pot Ward and supporting the catering stores area
  • Working as a ward operative, preparing and serving food directly to patients
  • Working as a kitchen porter, providing additional support as required in our catering preparation unit
  • Supporting services within the Coffee Shop, both Barista and serving customers
  • Providing services within the staff restaurant including serving food, cleaning or restaurant areas and washing up duties
  • Cooking and preparation of basic food items within both CPU and the main staff restaurant
  • Handling cash and using a cash till
