Condition / Indication: Requesters have found these assays to be of value in all patients being treated for pulmonary MDR-TB

Advance warning: Not usually required, advanced warning only needed for weekend and public holidays.

Special precautions & notes: Blood should be collected in EDTA tube

Sample required: Approx. 1-2mL separated plasma taken in EDTA tube (minimum of 1ml is required). Samples may be sent by post. Transport time must be <5 days. Please contact laboratory if in doubt as sample integrity may be affected. Samples must be sealed and packed to conform to current regulations. Leaking samples may not be processed.

Timing of samples: We recommend a pre dose sample and a 5-6h post dose sample.

Results: Results will be telephoned or emailed on the day of receipt for samples received between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday. A hard copy report will be sent by post.

Reference range: TDM after 2 weeks: Pre (24h): 0.73 - 0.96 mg/L; Post (5-6h): 2.8 - 3.3 mg/L TDM after 8 weeks: Pre (48h): 0.62 mg/L; Post (5-6h): 1.7 mg/L TDM after 24 weeks (48h): Pre (48h): 0.36 mg/L; Post (5-6h): 1.3 mg/L
