Dr Whiteway undertakes clinics for people with myeloma, chronic myeloid leukaemia and similar disorders as well as a general haematology clinic. As part of a national network of clinicians he helps to support the quarterly PNH clinic held at Southmead hospital.
He supports clinical trials whenever possible, to help ensure best choice and quality of clinical care.
He is lead for laboratory haematology and for the BHODS single integrated haemato-oncology diagnostic service.
He has supported the Trust Thrombosis Committee in VTE prevention and is the Trust Cancer Lead Clinician.
Professional memberships include: British Society for Haematology for which he is a member of the Haem-Onc task force, UK Myeloma Forum, European and American Societies for Hematology and the Royal College of Pathologists for whom he has acted as College Tutor and Assessor.
